Another issue is the various speed ratings on the side of the tyre, for example H or a V rated, what does that mean?

We have added a list in our Motorbike Tyre Tips section to explain what each letter stands for. In this case H is up to 129mph and V 149mph. Next to the speed rating is another number, for example 58W, is that 58 significant? Again, this is a symbolic number that represents the weight the tyre can carry, and no, that doesn’t mean 58kg it is symbolic, it actually stands for 236kg!!
